East - West Cultural Tour (18 days)

Day 1 (Arrive Paro)

Day 2 (Paro - Thimphu)

Drive through the beautiful valleys of Paro and Thimphu to the capital of Bhutan - Thimphu. Visit the Memorial Chorten built in memory of His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third hereditary monarch of Bhutan, the paper factory and later visit the Handicraft Emporium. After lunch, visit Swiss Bakery for a cup of thee and pastries.

Day 3 (Thimphu sightseeing) 

Sightseeing in Thimphu includes - visit to the National Library, Zangthopelri Lhakhang, Tashi Nencha Studio and the School of Thankha Painting. In the afternoon, visit the Handicraft Emporium and the Memorial Chorten.

Day 4 (Thimphu – Trongsa)

The drive to Trongsa takes about seven hours across the Dochula Pass and Pelela Pass. On a clear day one can get a good view of the Himalayan ranges.

Drive  through Wangdue town. Picnic lunch at Chendebji Chorten. Overnight in Trongsa.

Day 5 (Trongsa - Jakar/Bumthang)

In the morning, visit the Trongsa Dzong and see also the Ta Dzong. Drive through Trongsa town to the beautiful valley of Bumthang. Enroute visit the Chume Valley, where local women weave the famous "Bumthang Yathra", pure woolen textile woven in the traditional method with beautiful colors patterns.

Day 6 (Bumthang)

Full day sightseeing in Bumthang valley. Visit the Wangdichholing Palace, Swiss Farm House ,Jakar Dzong,Kurjey Temple, and Tamshing Lhakhang.

Day 7 (Bumthang – Mongar)

After breakfast, drive to Ura village and visit Ura Lhakhang. Drive to Mongar through Thrumshingla Pass (the highest pass in Bhutan). Overnight in Mongar.

Day 8 (Mongar – Tashigang)

Visit Tashigang Dzong and Rangjung Monastery

Day 9 (Tashigang) 

Excursion to Trashiyangtse. Enroute visit Gom Kora Temple, Chorten Kora Stupa and hike to Trashiyangtse Dzong

Day 10 (Tashigang – Mongar)

This is the beginning of the return journey. After sightseeing Trashigang valley, drive to\ Mongar.

Day 11 (Mongar – Bumthang)

Drive to Bumthang.

Day 12 (Bumthang)

Attend Jambay Lhakhang festival

Day 13 (Bumthang)

Bumthang sightseeing – hike to Shukdra Monastery

Day  14 (Bumthang)

Witness Jambay Lhakhang festival

Day 15 (Bumthang - Phobjikha)

Explore Phojikha valley and also visit to Gangtey Monastery, the only Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan .Overnight in Phobjikha.

Day 16 (Phobjikha - Thimphu)

Afternoon at leisure

Day 17 (Thimphu – Paro)

Excursion to Taktsang or drive to Chelela Pass(3990m) and visit Haa.

Drive to Satsam Chorten and then hike to viewpoint of Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest.

This magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 3,000 ft above the valley floor. A spiritual quest.

Drive to Chelela Pass(3,990m) where you can see both the valleys of Haa and Paro and get a paramount view of the mountain ranges.

Day 18  (Paro Departure)

Early morning drive to Paro Airport for departure
