Undoubtedly the best way to reach Bhutan by air. Drukair, the national airline, is the only airline servicing Bhutan, so there is not much choice, but they provide excellent, reliable service. Drukair has a jet fleet perfectly designed and crafted for high altitude landings and takeoffs, which are impeccably maintained. They have a spotless safety record due to the fact that all pilots are specially trained and internationally licensed for mountain flying.

The flight to Bhutan has to be the most spectacular in the world - offering spectacular views of the Himalayas, Mount Everest, and Chomolhari, depending upon where you fly from. Flights into Paro International Airport, one of the highest in the world, arrive daily from Bangkok, Kathmandu, Delhi & Calcutta and sometimes Dacca.

We will book your Drukair ticket in and out of Bhutan for you as a part of our tour service and can help you make any additional travel arrangements as needed. We will personally book your tickets as soon as you confirm your trip so as to avoid the peak season rush of the spring and autumn festivals, and once your visa is approved by the Home Ministry.   Please make sure that all of the personal information you provide to us for your visa and airline tickets is EXACTLY the same as it is appears on your passport, to help avoid any travel delays.

Other than flying, you may also enter Bhutan by surface road through the Indian border town of Phuntsholing.  This is convenient for those who wish to combine their visit to Bhutan with other places in India such as Sikkim & Darjeeling.  If you fly into Bhutan, you can exit by road, or vice versa.

Air tickets will be issued only after the Home Ministry of Bhutan approves your visa. To expedite this procedure, it is essential that you send us all the passport information required to apply for your Bhutan visa (see visa application in Travel Information). The air tickets cannot be issued until the visa is approved - and this process takes a week or more.
